General Questions

Q: What's changing?

A: The brief summary is that we are moving from "per trip" pricing to "per direction" pricing. So if you go roundtrip, that's two directions. If you have a multi-city trip with two stops, that's 3 directions and so on. Pricing will start at $15 each way for Flight Monitoring (formerly called Assistance).

Q: What if I signed up before the change for travel after the change?

A: Nothing will change. If you've signed up before June 1, then there is no price change, regardless of when you travel.

Q: If the price of service has gone down, can I get a refund?

A: No. The pricing change only impacts people who sign up after June 1, so nothing will change if you signed up before that.

Flight Monitoring

Q: What is the difference between the old "Assistance" and the new "Flight Monitoring"?

A: It's just a name change. One of the things that confused people was the naming of our services. Now we're changing that to be Flight Monitoring, Flight Planning, and Urgent Assistance. The services under each category won't change.

Q: Does it still cost more for international trips?

A: It does, but we're expanding the number of destinations that fall under the lower price. Instead of having "US/Canada" and "Global" rates, we'll now have "Regional" and "Global" rates. Regional includes travel within the US/Canada, within the European Union, or within any single country. That's $15 per direction for Flight Monitoring. Everything else falls under Global and is $30 per direction.

Q: Can I mix and match?

A: Absolutely. If you're flying from LA to Frankfurt, Frankfurt to Munich, and Munich to LA, that would be two Global and one Regional flight for a total of $75. You could also opt to just have us pay attention to one of your flights, or two. It's up to you.

Q: What if I'm flying LA to Munich with a connection in Frankfurt? Is that two directions?

A: No. Connections do not count as a new direction. It's only when you actually plan to leave the airport that it counts as another direction.

Flight Planning and Changes

Q: What if I need help with planning and booking a trip?

A: It's now going to be an additional $30 on top of the Flight Monitoring cost for Flight Planning. That's a flat amount unless you need help using miles. Mileage tickets will be an additional $90 instead of $30. If you end up purchasing a ticket in a premium cabin, we'll refund our fee.

Q: And if I need to make changes?

A: If we handled the actual booking for your ticket and you need to make a change, it will cost $30 each time you do it. If the airline makes changes that you don't initiate, then you don't have to pay us. It's only if you decide you want to change your flights. If you planned your trip on your own, just submit the new flights to us and there is no charge unless you've added "directions." Also, if you bought a ticket in a premium cabin, this fee will be waived.

Urgent Assistance

Q: What if I need immediate help because I'm stuck?

A: We still have Urgent Assistance available, but due to the time and commitment required from us, the price is going up. It will now be a flat $150 for immediate assistance.

Q: If I've purchased Flight Monitoring and then need help at the last minute, do I have to pay for Urgent Assistance?

A: Absolutely not! If we're following your flights and something goes wrong, there's no additional charge for us to jump in and help. This is just for people who haven't signed up already but need immediate help.

Q: What if you can't help me get out of my jam?

A: We'll do everything we can to find alternates for you, but sometimes there simply aren't any options to get you where you need to go by the time you need to get there. As always, our money back guarantee will apply, so if you don't think we've done everything we could, just ask for a refund. Hopefully, you'll still appreciate the work we've put in to helping.

Cranky Credits

Q: I purchased discounted Cranky Credits before the pricing change. What happens to those?

A: Those will continue to be used under the old structure until they're gone. Credits purchased today will be based off the new rate, but there are still discounts of up to 15 percent available.
